#OpenFrameworks for #Processing Coders - Video guide by @jtnimoy:

I’m only currently watching the first video, but I can say it’s already a nice cool introduction to C++ for those who only know Processing/Java (I already ‘know’ C/C++, those are the first languages I learned, and I know people often struggles with pointers, the presentation here seems quite clear and nice about them… even tho it might be not enough, not sure… when I was in computer science school, I had somehow to teach some of those things to others students like me and I remember it was really not always easy to grasp. And for not having much coded in C++ for a while too, I think I might still stumble against pointers… // I’m currently wondering about maybe going back to code in C/C++… or maybe try to learn new languages.)

What’s more, I have also been a loyal Flickr user ever since January 2005 — “Flickr” being an obscure, formerly with-it Yahoo! photo-sharing site where I have over a million page-views. Over there at Yahoo! Flickr, they still count in pages. Millions, but pages.

   With these elite credentials, I was quickly recruited for some R&D work on Yahoo!’s fully-consolidated Tumblr-Flickr service, “Tumblickr.” Yes, I’ll be helping to create the new, conceptual, diegetic services that the rest of you will some day enjoy!

What’s more, you people — my mighty legion of thirty thousand followers — are the very first people to hear early warnings from the leaky Tumblickr development R&D lab. You’ll notice that the “heart” and “forward” commands have been disabled for this exclusive news post. Do not attempt to use those grayed-out commands! Violations of the new terms-of-service will be swiftly noticed and permanently recorded, and offenders may well be deprived of their obligatory Yahoo! log-in.

   1. Automatic image enhancement. Any group photo featuring a “Tumblicker Pro” (formerly called “Flickr Pro”) will be automatically groomed for elite user benefit. This means red-eye removal, gray hair re-colored, bent shoulders straightened, sagging features sharpened, unseemly wrinkles shooped out of their 1980s-style clothing, etc.

   The opposite applies to the dead weight of the 47% Tumbler “taker” underclass, who will be depicted as even youthier, grimier and more downmarket than they already are.

2. The new “Ignore + Throttle” feature. Newbies, trolls, teens, cat-fanciers and other vermin who annoy a “Tumblickr Pro” will still suffer the useful, time-honored Tumblr “ignore” command. However, randomized DDOS lag-moments of one to fifteen seconds duration will also be introduced into the service connections of these offending parties. This is an innovative service of “Unit 63198,” our new Chinese Tumblickr offshore support batallion.

3. Automatic Mobility Filtering. Tumblr users are notorious for posting from “mobiles.” These cheap, careless Android snapshots are easy to distinguish from genuine camerawork, linked through top-end Apple desktop media-production units, owned and deployed by those of us who can still think differently enough to take real photographs.

   Our new Tumblickr feature allows us to filter-out these low-net-worth “mobile” vagrants, especially those who lack any mortgage or a retirement plan. These way-too-mobile insta-bums will henceforth be gently guided into a “Tumblickr Favela” where they can pay in Bitcoins and be seen only by their own kind.

Dissident Chinese artist Ai Weiwei made his first foray into the musical world on Wednesday with the release of the top single from his debut album, a song called “Dumbass” that takes inspiration from his detention in 2011. Another experiment with audio data. Deformations and rotation are based on beat detection and FFT data from the sound file. Again, sound was analysed within an external sketch.

It was a good idea, but I found out just getting off the computer and relaxing in a good chair with a glass of Chartreuse did the trick :) And I read after that…

spent 3 hours sorting photos (and it’s really tiresome do to that for me) and exporting them. And I lost everything. I did it for nothing. I don’t think I want to do this again. I don’t think i want to look at all those photos ever again.

I’m super annoyed today overall so everything else is annoying too. >_<

Senik presented the idea in Le Monde in 2011. The French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies found that France had the same “index of human development” (material well-being) as Belgium and Denmark, but polled much lower in the “happiness scale,” which ranged from one to ten: France was 7.2, while Belgium scored 7.7 and Denmark rated 8.3. “The fact of living in France reduces by twenty percent the probability of declaring oneself very happy,” Senik writes, and adds that France has Europe’s highest rate of usage of mood-altering drugs, and one of the highest rates of suicide. Taking into consideration a range of factors, she links the French “malaise” to “the ensemble of psychological and ideological mechanisms and dispositions that constitute the process of the transformation of experiences into well-being”—in other words, French culture. (“French people living abroad are less happy than other Europeans living outside their country of origin,” she writes.)

Heh, oui, je compte bien le voir, j’avais adoré Primer, pour une fois qu’un film de SF était pas synonyme d’effets spéciaux grandiloquents et de courses poursuites/cascades/prétexte a un film d’action bête et méchant…. mais il est pas encore sorti en france, si ? Je vais vérifier…
