Automated Alice by Jeff Noon
This was an interesting read. Taking place after the events in Through The Looking Glass, Alice travels to the future. A future ruled by anthropomorphic animals. There she becomes the prime suspect in a murder case which she and her new robot double must solve to prove her innocents, does a little jail time, experiments with drugs, meets Lewis Carroll, Jeff Noon, and a robotic reproduction of Jimi Hendrix. The book was a bit strange even for Wonderland standards, but still very enjoyable to read. I couldn’t put it down.
I wanted to read this one quite some time ago, when I was reading Pixel Juice, but I haven’t even finished the short stories of Pixel Juice. (Despite the fact that they’re great and that was the best pieces of fiction that i read in a long time…) [wanted to read/still want to read Channel SK1N too.]

A boat, beneath a sunny sky
Lingering onward dreamily
In an evening of July
Children three that nestle near,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Pleased a simple tale to hear
Long has paled that sunny sky;
Echoes fade and memories die;
Autumn frosts have slain July.
Still she haunts me, phantomwise,
Alice moving under skies
Never seen by waking eyes.
Children yet, the tale to hear,
Eager eye and willing ear,
Lovingly shall nestle near.
In a Wonderland they lie,
Dreaming as the days go by,
Dreaming as the summers die;
Ever drifting down the stream
Lingering in the golden gleam
Life, what is it but a dream?Posted on March 3, 2013 with 4 notes
